Quirindi Eventing

Last weekend we packed the truck up for our first eventing outing in what felt like forever! We were desperate to have a run as Covid had really made a dent in our competition plans. The weather forecast wasn’t looking super favourable, so we packed our wet weather gear and hoped the weather gods held off. With four horses, three people and two dogs we headed out on Friday afteroon.

Constable and I had our first 3* start together and our only our second ever start together. Constable is proving to be a lot of fun to compete with competitive dressage, clear show jump and a solid cross country round. The show jumping was very sloshy and deep and it wasn’t a perfect round but Constable tried his absolute heart out and jumped super. Around the cross country the wet conditions didn’t bog us down and a clear round over the jumps and a coservative time was a wonderful way to get back in to the swing of competing.

In the 95 Donut had a very confident run. The dressage wasn’t quite the test we were hoping for but there were some lovely moments. We had an unlucky rail in the SJ when we tried to miss a boggy spot and my foot hit the wing knocking the rail! Donut ate up the cross country and is looking really positive for moving up the grades.

Michah was the star of the weekend coming home with a first place in the 80 class. A good dressage test followed by a clear show jumping and clear and under time cross country. All you can ask for in a young horse going through the grades.

Bree and her young OTT Frankie had both of their first ever eventing start in the 45. It was a brilliant run for them and Bree was smiling from ear to ear. I may have converted her to the dark side!!

It was a lovely weekend away and great to get back out eventing. It took about a week to dry out but it was definitely worth it. Bring on the Wallaby Hill and Camden to finish the year!
